What inspired Lost In Sunshine? Watch new video blog with Jentri & Lorie!

A couple months back, while Lorie was in town, I sent out a note to my twitter friends asking if anyone had any writer-director-producer questions that they'd like us to answer in a video blog. Our LIS art goddess, Ia, was patient enough to tape the session, and LIS' assistant editor, David Gardner, kindly edited it together for us. Thanks, friends!

The first question was for me, and it came from a dear friend of mine, Kim, who read the script in one of its earlier stages. Since the heart and soul of the story has never changed, this was relatively easy to answer.

My 'director's statement' demonstrates the gravity and perplexity of emotion relevant to Lost In Sunshine. Emotions I wanted to play with, so to speak. But the motivation for creating LIS was a bit different, as you'll see in the video. As a writer, I get to relive everything at some point… and what I haven't lived, I get to entertain vicariously through a myriad of challenging characters in my fantasy world (i.e., infidelity, pregnancy, crazy road trips). As a director, I'm able to outwardly project these internal images onto an external platform, working with a team that makes them far more rich and compelling than anything I could ever construct on my own. In short, it's the very best of both worlds.

While I'd definitely consider myself to be a better writer than speaker, I do my best verbally to thoughtfully articulate, what at times I feel, cannot be justified with words.

I hope that you'll enjoy the VIDEO q&a. It's one of many we'll be sharing with you over the course of our show.

If you have writer-director-producer questions, please post them here...  and I'll do my best to report back live again each month, and when Lorie's in town!

Love, Jentri

Hey Chris, thanks for the good question! In short, we're storyboarding the whole film. I'll elaborate on this with all the juicy details (i.e., who's involved, our intention, time commitment, structure, etc.) in my next video blog. :)

How much storyboarding do you plan on doing? The whole film? Key scenes?
