At nearly 30, Lyn Bright-Blue didn’t think she’d still be stuck in tiny Sunshine, Texas, married to her inattentive high school sweetheart, and working at his dad’s rundown motel, the Blue Top. She tries to distract herself by quoting her favorite Marilyn Monroe movie scenes and rescuing animals, but it’s not enough. Underneath her tough exterior and perfect body, Lyn harbors dark secrets. She believes no matter what she does, all roads will lead to an early death. Her tarot cards even say so.

Bob Brown believes he makes his own destiny. Well, he really wants to believe so. He’s on a mission to finish his Self-Help manuscript, and he’s certain it will be a bestseller when it gets published. Except his car just died right outside of Sunshine. Could this be the place for him to finish his book, free of distractions?

Not after interviewing with Lyn for a job at the Blue Top. She’s mysterious and discontented, and Bob is smitten right away. Not only is she hot, Bob believes he’s meant to help her find happiness.

They throw themselves into an affair and cross-country road trip, hoping to find answers in each other.  Their only obstacles are his undisclosed gambling addiction and her preoccupation with an early death.

If she and Bob can stop running away, they’ll each have a chance at finding themselves. But, they'll have to face their worst fears to get there – the truth.
