Why not go for your dream?

Howdy friends,

I hope this finds you somewhere warm, and happy, doing something you value and love. But just in case it doesn't, remember that it doesn't have to be permanent!

This past year has been challenging, business wise especially, which is forcing me to seek another part-time (paying) gig, in addition to all the jobs I perform daily that I don't get paid for. And that's OK...  I'm accepting it because I know that I need to keep my eye on the larger picture, as much as I do the current state of what IS. Us filmmakers would LOVE to spend every waking hour doing nothing but CREATING, and most of us sacrifice plenty to get there. But there are bills that must be paid, too, when the things we create produce everything but money. That's just a reality that lots of us filmmakers have to deal with. :)

Bottom line, when you want something bad enough, you will do whatever it takes to get there, and money will follow eventually - even if it takes longer than you'd like. It always helps me to remember that whatever it is I'm doing, that I really don't want to be doing for money (i.e. an office gig or working for someone else!) is temporary.

Like much of life.

We live. We work. We have families. We share moments. Hopefully we have fun. We do something that contributes to the rest of the world, if we're lucky. And then we die. Not to sound morbid, but that's a reality. Whatever you believe or don't believe about the after-life doesn't change the fact that you're here NOW, and must deal with the hand you've been dealt.

Why not make the best of it?

Why not go for your dream?

That's what lead me to work on my current documentary, What I Know For Sure, which I also consider to be a form of spiritual cinema, like Lost In Sunshine.

In LIS, Lyn grapples with her past, not wanting to accept her current reality. She believes that her future is already determined, and she is doomed to repeat an undesirable life, like her mother. Instead of figuring out a way to be happy with her current situation, OR change it there, she decides to run from it.

I can't help but wonder how much easier all of our lives would be, including Lyn's, if we stopped running (entirely).

Wishing you love, stillness, and peace.

Steve! So great to hear from

Steve! So great to hear from you! Absolutely. I'll drop you a line at your email so we can chat. I'm excited to hear about your new filmmaking endeavor with your partner, Nick, too. I'm sure we'll have lots to converse about! :) ttys. J

    Hey Jentri, Hope this finds

    Hey Jentri,

Hope this finds you well. I think we've conversed via Twitter @steveolenski in the past.

Anywho, in addition to my "day job" I also write for film and TV. I'm working with a good friend of mine, Nick Lanciano. He's a producer, filmmaker, actor, etc...

He's not (self admittedly) the most internet savvy (read: Social Media) person so he asked me to set up a Twitter and Facebook page for our new movie, Mixer. Here's the link to both Mixer and 9th & Bay, our first movie together. http://lancianoproductions.com/Now-In-Production.html and @mixerthemovie via Twitter (havent set up the FB page yet)

I can tell you are quite adept at marketing your projects and equally as passionate.

I am very familiar with Social Media and was thinking we could make this mutually beneficial as we are all Indie Film makers at heart...

Let me know if you want to chat sometime, would love to pick your brain re: what you're doing via Social Media and Lost in Sunshine and your other projects... if its helped, etc...

Please drop me a line at steveolenski@yahoo.com.

    Thanks Jentri!

    All the best,
    Steve Olenski
