Stay Connected

If there's one thing I've taken away from my addictive, gossip (trash) magazines over the past several years it's this - you can be hot one day, and not the next. Of course, unless you're Brad Pitt. Hang on... are you? Ok.. no? So, let's continue. :)
When someone calls you and asks you for a favor - perhaps to pick your brain, perhaps to reach out to someone you know in their behalf, or to give them a reference, (assuming this person is a friend and reliable person) what do YOU do? Do you make a call, send an email, or avoid theirs?
Without connections, and kind friends that aren't too big for their britches to reach out to other so-called power players, once they're successful, we would actually have to be Brad Pitt to make things happen in this biz. And that's pretty impossible. Everyone starts somewhere.
I've been blessed with Lost In Sunshine. So many people have graciously made calls on our behalf, and even if nothing transpired - I'll remember them, and continue to be so thankful that they thought enough of us to reach out. It's humbling when people are willing to put their name on the line for you.
I suppose the reason I'm writing this is because I've had a taste of both sides recently with various projects. And it's made me appreciate the people who "follow up" or take the time to "follow thru" with their talk even more. If it weren't for a couple of people in Austin, who were there for me when I needed to get started (again) making this film, Lost In Sunshine, I could've been discouraged. But there they were - like film angels.
Every person's needed help at some point - even Brad Pitt.
Give Back. Stay Connected. :)
